Early one morning, thirteen-year-old Minke Moorman is abducted on her way to school. Three years later, she reappears from nowhere, completely disoriented and with a mysterious tattoo of wings on her back. When Minke is allowed to return home and must reintegrate, it's not easy for the whole family. Of course, Minke has been transformed by her traumatic experiences, but unbeknownst to anyone else, she is still being manipulated by her kidnapper: she is still in the grip of the Sphinx's wings.
